Winemaking Equipment
In order to learn how to make homemade wine, you will need some wine making equipment. This wine making gear is very reasonably priced, when you consider that you will purchase these things once and use them over and over again. When considering purchasing equipment for wine making, it is important to keep in mind that there are some have to have items and some nice to have items. For instance, when degassing your wine, you can stir the bubbles out with a long handled spoon, but a drill mounted stirring device will save you a lot of time, effort and sweat.
Another thing to consider when deciding on what wine making supplies to buy redundancy of function. Allow me to explain. You can get a racking cane, which will allow you to transfer you wine off of sediment from one container to the other. While a racking cane is included in most basic wine making equipment kits, it can become a wasted purchase that you will never use! The reason I am saying this is that once you get started making wine, an Auto Siphon will do everything the racking cane does while making it much easier to start your siphoning of wine. In my opinion, it pays to buy an auto siphon instead of a racking cane.
It also pays to buy doubles of certain wine making tools, too. Like an Hydrometer. These glass devices are very fragile, so you wouldn’t want to depend on having one handy, to find out it broke when you need it. They are inexpensive enough to have an extra one on hand.
