Looking for an amazing dessert wine?
Introducing the Winexpert Chocolate Raspberry Port Wine Kit
Every once in a while, something special comes along in the way of homemade wine kits. The Winexpert Chocolate Raspberry Port Wine Kit is one of those things. It is a dessert wine that has the perfect blend of Raspberry and Chocolate, yet is not overly sweet. I guess the best way to describe it is that it is similar to the Raspberry Cordials from Godiva, where you taste the intensity of the Gourmet Chocolate and Raspberry flavor. While it is a sweet dessert wine, it doesn’t have excessive sweetness, where you notice the sugar before the intense flavors.
When I first read about the Winexpert Chocolate Raspberry Port wine kit, people were freaking out about how good it was in wine making forums. This particular limited edition wine kit is only available for a few months a year, and it sells out quickly. Unfortunately, I missed the boat that year. The way it works is that pre-ordering starts around the end of July, and the kit is available for a few months, starting in September.

If you make the Winexpert Chocolate Raspberry port wine kit is September, you should be set for the holiday season to enjoy it.
Is it easy to make homemade with the Winexpert Chocolate Raspberry Port Wine Kit?
You bet it is! Wine making is fun and easy. You can watch the whole process of me making the Winexpert Chocolate Raspberry Port wine kit, start to finish here, in this video series:
Winning more than 13 Gold Medals and countless Silver and Bronze Medals in amateur wine making competitions, it is no wonder that home wine making enthusiasts adore this kit. After missing my opportunity the first year I found out about it, I waited for it to come back very patiently. And sure enough, the next July, pre-ordering began. There was sort of a celebration in the wine making forums. People exclaiming “It’s Back!!!!!!” with a happy cheer! I ordered one these kits and gave it a try. Since that time, I have been making the Winexpert Chocolate Raspberry Port Wine Kit every year!

This particular wine kit makes only 3 gallons of port style wine, unlike most others that make six. That is why I usually buy two kits, so that I can use my six gallon carboys. The wine is that good and worth it. In fact, I would imagine that many people may believe it to be the best port style wine they ever had. The alcohol level is around 16% by volume, give or take. You don’t need to add any water to this wine kit either.
Most people bottle this wine in 375ml bottles. Doing so, you would have 30 bottles of Chocolate Raspberry Port. If you wanted to use the standard size bottles, you would end up around 15 bottles of delicious wine. Being a dessert wine, I prefer the 375ml bottles. I actually ended up with 62 bottles of wine!
What kind of equipment do I need to make the Winexpert Chocolate Raspberry Port Wine Kit?
While the wine kit includes all the ingredients you will need to make the wine and labels, it does not include the wine making equipment that you will need to make it, bottles and corks. It is kind of like when you buy a cake mix, it doesn’t include pans, bowls or an oven. That is typical of most wine kits. You only need a minimum of wine making equipment to make this wine however and you need only purchase that once, since you can use it over and over again.
Since this kit makes a three gallon batch of wine, you will need to decide if you want to make one kit, or two. The reason for this is that most non-dessert wine kits make six gallons. Either way, you will need some equipment. I recommend this equipment kit pictured on the left if you don’t already have wine making equipment.
This equipment kit has what you need to make six gallon batches of wine. This particular kit is really nice, because it comes with everything you need, including many “nice to have items”. Other equipment kits are missing key pieces, so while the price tag may be attractive, you will end up ordering the extras anyway, ultimately costing you more. It is far better to get the complete kit. Check out this excellent wine making equipment kit here.
If you plan on making a single 3 gallon batch of the Winexpert Chocolate Raspberry Port, you will also want to buy a three gallon carboy in addition to the equipment kit I listed here, along with some extra airlocks and bungs.
I choose to make my own labels for most of my wines. Not that there is anything wrong with the labels that are included, I just like to personalize my own labels. After corking the bottles, I like to let them stand upright for a week, before dressing the bottles with shrink capsules and labels. Then, it is ok to store the wine bottles on their sides.
I hope you have enjoyed my post on the Winexpert Chocolate Raspberry Port Wine Kit, and I hope you will give it a try. I am confident that you will totally be blown away with this wine kit. Be careful who you share it with, as you may have people showing up for more over and over again. I would also suggest stocking a few of these bottles in your emergency survival kit, as you will probably need them. Cheers!
